Doc Martin in Port Isaac

Doc Martin is a British television comedy drama starring Martin Clunes. Created by Dominic Minghella, it is filmed on location in and around Port Isaac.

For the purpose of the series, Port Isaac becomes known as Portwenn.

Martin Clunes of "Men Behaving Badly" fame play Portwenn's local GP, Martin Ellingham.

Martin was once a successful surgeon in London until he developed a bizzre phobia of blood that prevented him conducting any further operations.

This prompted him to retrain as a GP, and apply for a post in the Cornish village of Portwenn, where he spent childhood holidays.

The filming of the series has created an additional interest in Port Isaac for tourists and visitors.
